Mr. Paz with Mayor Garcetti looking on

Ralph Waldo Emerson said, “Your actions should speak so loudly I cannot hear your words.”  I believe at Harvard our actions speak for themselves.  Last year we won the city wide L.A.’s Best Science Fair.  Our students beat the district goal of 96% attendance. We held our very first talent show to rousing success and saw the establishment of our Harvard Orchestra led by the very talented Mr. Howells. We experienced Mad Science for the first time and with the help of Astronomers from the Los Angeles Astronomical Society, we saw the moon and planets in our solar system during Star Gazing Night.  Our credo of “Every Student is College Bound” was painted on our handball courts and 3rd floor by our friends from Farmers Insurance and City-Year.  The Oriental Mission Church sponsored $1,000.00 in scholarships to our culminating 5th grade.  We experienced the first year of Common Core Curriculum and Smarter Balanced Testing.  As dedicated educators, we discovered the talent of Harvard’s students and the depth of their talents.  The support and wisdom of Harvard’s families is overwhelming.  Our fund raisers are always top earners and the turnout at our parents meetings, back to school nights and parent teacher conferences is phenomenal.

If you are here to believe in tomorrow, start today and welcome to a wonderful journey.  If you thought last year was great, watch what happens next year.
